Lago Junior: “We are indebted to the fans”

The Malaguista, who scored the 2-0 in the win against Mirandés, featured in a post-match press conference. “We are going to try to win the last two remaining games and be able to save ourselves; it’s difficult but not impossible,” he stressed.

Lago Junior, Málaga CF goal-scorer, appeared in the 'Juan Cortés' Press Room after the win against CD Mirandés at La Rosaleda.

He started his press conference by saying: “It’s been a difficult game, as Mirandés came here with good feelings for having won many matches. The reaction in the stands is normal, the team has given everything and in the end the fans have encouraged us. In our situation it isn’t easy, the team knew how to compete and we won the three points.”

The number '7' scored the team's second goal. “I always dedicate the goals to my family and then to Manolo, and today it was the other way around,” he said, going on to mention the fans: “We are indebted to them, they don’t deserve what they’ve been through. We are going to try to win the last two remaining games and be able to save ourselves. It’s difficult but not impossible,” he stated.

The player from the Ivory Coast recognises the affection from the public: “I’m happy for the ovation, I have been here four or five months, and it’s appreciated because this is a very difficult time.”

Lago Junior concluded his appearance being self-critical, despite the four goals he has scored so far after arriving at Málaga CF in the winter transfer window: “Personally, I haven't been up to the task. I arrived here with the aim of helping the team to save us. If we don't achieve the objective, it will be a great disappointment because we have given everything, but it wasn’t possible to achieve it.”
