Dani Sánchez: I’m on cloud nine, this is a dream come true

The defender was officially presented as a Malaguista player this Monday: “There’ve been some very intense weeks of happiness with the family,” he stated, visibly thrilled.

Dani Sánchez has fulfilled the dream of any homegrown player, reaching the first team. The defender carried out military service in Extremadura, Linares, Sabadell and Soria (Numancia) before returning and occupying a player number below 25. Perhaps that is why Dani has been so proud during his presentation: “I’m delighted to be back. It’s very different from my previous stage because I’m in the first team. There’ve been some very intense weeks of happiness with the family. I’m on cloud nine, this is a dream come true, and this week the good part begins. I'm super happy,” he said.

He returns as someone who knows the house well and can bring a lot of feeling in addition to football: “I want to thank my family and Loren for their trust. I feel much more comfortable on the wing, it's my position and where I can give 100%. In the end, the coach decides where I can play, but I will always be willing to help the team any way I can,” he stated.

The experience away from home is always enriching for a player: “Leaving here has helped me to grow on a personal level. I also have the plus of knowing the division, which requires a lot of effort and sacrifice and taking each match at a time. I can offer the maturity of knowing about it to help my teammates,” he expressed.

Regarding his vision of his teammates, Dani has full confidence in the group: “I can see the team is in great shape, there’s an incredible atmosphere in the dressing room that has had an impact on me. I knew a lot of my teammates before. We’re determined to compete and do great things and we’ll do our best each week. It’s a process, the team is working incredibly hard every day and the coaching team is intense. I feel calm as I have 25 warriors behind me who are going to give their all,” he said.

His personal objective… “I aim to improve and help my teammates. I am 23 years old and need to improve, I want to take Málaga where it deserves to be. I want to leave a mark, it's a dream. On a collective level, it’s a very important year for everyone,” he remarked.

He’s an old friend of the house and also Pellicer: “I get along well with the coach. I knew Pelli and the coaching staff from the lower divisions. Pellicer is going to give us that intensity, that desire and convey what the shield means. The coach is great, I’m happy to have a person who helps you on a day-to-day basis and gives you confidence when you need it,” he added.

He concluded his introductory press conference as a Malaguista player, making an initial analysis of Primera RFEF and the role of the Malaguista fans: “It's a complicated category, for me it's practically a second division. I know the fans will be there every time. We can’t go in fear because we are Málaga. With sacrifice and strength every week, we are going to move forward.”
