Torrox will join the team in Sanlúcar

Málaga CF's commitment to the Costa del Sol municipalities is evident once again. Artist José Luis Puche gives us a brilliant representation of the Feria de las Migas in Torrox, which will feature in the match against Atlético Sanluqueño.

Málaga CF will face Atlético Sanluqueño on Sunday 10th March, on Primera Federación matchday 27. Kicking off at 16:00, Estadio El Palmar will host an exciting match in which the picturesque municipality of Torrox will feature in the design on the Blue and White captain's armband.

Located on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea and at the foot of the Sierra de Almijara, the municipality is part of the Axarquía region. It is located at a distance of 42 kilometres from the Malagueña capital and has an area of 50 km2 that extends through the valley of the river of the same name. The town is distributed in two different nuclei: in the interior, the old nucleus, and on the coast, Torrox Costa.

The origin of the municipality, a historical jewel, dates back to Roman times, although it has also witnessed the influences of the Phoenicians and Arabs, until the arrival of Christianity in the 15th century. It is currently emerging as a dream tourist destination, captivating visitors from all over the world with its natural beauty and traditional charm. Such is its attraction that it is known as “little Germany”, being the colony on the peninsula with the largest German population. This is predominantly due to the eternal spring that is enjoyed there, and whose tourist motto is the “Best Climate in Europe.”

Torrox offers the opportunity to enjoy its extensive beaches with crystal-clear waters and golden sands. Sun and beach lovers can relax on the quiet beach of El Morche or find a livelier atmosphere on the popular Ferrara coast. The municipality also boasts a charming old town where you can get lost in its narrow cobblestone streets or discover architectural treasures such as the Torre del Moro and the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación.

Those passionate about history can discover the region's fascinating past at the Torrox Museum or at the Roman ruins; while lovers of the gastronomic world can delight in the varied local cuisine, with ‘migas’ as the star dish. For those seeking adventure, the nearby Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama have impressive hiking trails.

Much like the way the Malaguistas gather at La Rosaleda with enthusiasm and passion, creating a festive and exciting atmosphere in each match; in this municipality, fun awaits you around every corner, with festivals that light up the nights and fairs that brighten the days.

For the design of the captain’s armband, as well as the poster for the match against Atlético Sanluqueño, José Luis Puche once again demonstrates his mastery in immortalising the uniqueness of the municipalities of Málaga.

The artist has creatively captured the iconic Fiesta de las Migas. In the heart of the design, four ‘migueros’ are busy preparing this typical dish around a large pan, which rests on an open fire. Furthermore, the vibrant tones that Puche uses in the background stand out, representing the hundreds of umbrellas that give an original and colourful shade to the Plaza de la Constitución in Torrox, a symbol of celebration and joy.

Málaga CF, the pride of the province!
