“We are going to give every last drop of blood and sweat for our fans”

Málaga CF coach, Sergio Pellicer held a press conference prior to the second leg of the promotion playoff final: “It is the most important game of my life,” he said.

Communion with the fans

“We’ve generated something this year in a new division. We have the opportunity to take two steps forward after one backward, with the energy that has been generated by the fans. It is something inexplicable, I have never experienced it, not even in First Division. It is something that has to continue and must continue to be promoted. Success or failure is determined by a number, and there is a lot of work behind it. That feeling has to remain, something great can be sown. We have a historic opportunity and we have to focus on ourselves.”

Ready for everything

“We are providing a high competitive level, we have to give our best version. I am very confident with the boys, the most beautiful and the most difficult match remains. We’re ready to compete and give joy to the fans. For the people of the Club who are there and those who are not, and for the family. We can’t wait for it to arrive and I am confident in the players. It's going to be very tough and we have to be focused on our gameplan.”

Going for the match

“We have to look for the win and really go for the rival area. It’s about managing emotions, in mini matches we have to be winners and from there many things can happen, both for and against. Until the end, a lot can happen in a minute. We’re confident in our work, the opponent also knows that they have a difficult game and we both know what we are going to come up against. In the small details we have to be better than the rival.”

Counting down the hours

“The work we’ve done throughout the season is going to be reflected in 90 minutes. We would like the game to be tomorrow, but we have to deal with the emotional tension. It's a football game, we have to know how to control. This is what we want to convey and what we have worked on during the week.”

The last drop of sweat

“The fatigue is brutal, I told the boys that we had seven great days left on a personal and professional level. Seven days, lads. We are going to give our last drop of sweat and blood for all the people who have suffered and experienced it. I get excited, we are going to give our best version. We are going to suffer, these games in La Rosaleda must serve as cultivation. May we give that final performance that would be a burst of joy for everyone.”

Most important match of his life

“It is the most important game of my professional life, for everything it entails. Both on a personal and professional level. Today I was telling Juande when we debuted on 14th January, to remember that path. It’s very good to remember it, to be young again and remember good times. Young people who are experiencing something they have not experienced in their lives.”

Generating something unique

“We have a very nice and exciting challenge for everyone, which can take the Club two steps forward and change many emotions. Something wonderful has been generated this year.”
