Pellicer: “We are creating something special; we must be ready for the challenge”

The Málaga CF coach spoke ahead of the match against Albacete Balompié at La Rosaleda. “We are going to compete and try to achieve our first victory in front of our fans,” he said.

Sergio Castel, Luismi and Yanis Rahmani

“There are three different cases. Sergio came without training with a group and is now available to help us. Luismi has also joined the team. Yanis's case is different; he just arrived and was called up by Eibar the other day. All three are ready to help us tomorrow.”

Albacete Balompié, a very demanding rival

“We are facing an opponent in high spirits with two very important victories. They have a clear playing style, and I empathise with Alberto González because he has come from the bottom and has been doing good work for a long time. His teams are well-organised; the most important thing is getting the best out of the squad, and they are unpredictable. They are very well-structured and use that organisation to exploit their strengths in transitions and set pieces. They haven't had much possession, whereas we, along with Elche, have the most possession. We are different teams, but with the same goal. We are going to compete and try to achieve our first victory in front of our fans, which is very important for morale. We have that duty; we need to play calmly, be ourselves, and keep improving our situations, as well as strengthening the positive aspects. We will face a tight game that will be decided by small details; we need to be more accurate than them in those details.”

Squad complete and project continuity

“The transfer window is closed; it was already closed before the Mirandés match, and certain situations accelerated that process. We need to be clear about our idea and model, and continue from last year. We deserve to have this challenge; it's an exam and we need to be prepared for it. I am happy with the players who were with us last year in the Primera Federación and with those who have joined. I hope we can establish ourselves. If the results are positive, something very special is being created, and in a couple of years, we can talk about other things.”

Málaga CF, the best place to grow

“In a place like Málaga, in critical situations, we take extreme measures, and very few teams play 17 or 18-year-olds when there's so much at stake. We hope the results will provide reassurance to the fans. This is the best environment for growth, and haste is a bad advisor. There are few teams with the club's and fans' demands that field such young players. The surroundings need to take that into consideration.”

Yanis Rahmani, latest signing

“He has a different profile and can also play on the right wing. He’s electric, with a lot of intensity and pace, and he provides us with a great deal of depth. It’s a different profile from what we have, which is great for the squad as it allows us to manage different contexts. We can create numerical superiority and generate runs. He comes to help, knows the club, the coaching staff, and several players. His acclimatisation will be quicker.”

Importance of a home win

“We are obliged to win at our stadium. The key lies in La Rosaleda; we must compete in every match. We have the duty to win on all fields, be ambitious, and know how to compete in every situation. Projects gain stability through results, and that starts with winning tomorrow.”

Expectations of Yanis’ second stage

“I expect the same or even better than before, with the same intensity and commitment from the team. We are nothing like the Málaga from four seasons ago; back then, we were a bit wild. Now we’re much more composed, though we still have a fierce demand. He will fulfil his dream of playing in front of the fans, something he couldn’t do before. We will have six wingers once Kevin and Lobete recover, so the competition is tough. The season is long, and everyone needs to be ready. There is still a long way to go to reach our goal.”
